The progenitor of the Brashears Family in America was Robert Brasseur, born a few years before 1600 in the Bouches-du-Rhône or "Mouths of the Rhône River" Region located in the Provence of Alpes-Côte d'Azur in France. Robert, and his wife Mary, had 10 children with the last 3 born in America between 1636 and 1645. President Barack Obama is a descendant of Susannah Brashears, granddaughter of the immigrant Robert Brasseur.

The Brashears Paternal Line migration is mapped from the beginnings in the Rift Valley of Africa 140,000 years ago. The DNA based map depicts the migration path of the Brashears’ ancestors indicating arrival about 14,000 ago into Eastern Europe from Western Asia through today’s Ukraine and Northern Germany. Russian Emperor Nicholas II belonged to this lineage.
