At Jenna’s college, the most prized award is a beautiful necklace made of the rarest seashells on the planet, and any woman bold enough to make it with a guy poolside at Linda Jansen’s house with others watching is entitled to get one.  Jenna is planning to do whatever is demanded of her to be the first freshman to win the elusive prize.

When Jenna saw the notice of the next poolside party at Linda Jansen’s house, she was as good as there.  It was a warm sunny day with a gentle breeze.  She parked her car on the side of the driveway next to three others and pushed open the gate to the pool area.

“What are you doing here, Jenna?” one of the necklaced girls yelled at her.

“I’m here to stake my claim and get one of those,” she said, pointing at the sparkling shells that dangled from the girl’s neck.

“Whatever do you mean?”

“I’m not stupid just because I’m a freshman.  Everyone knows what the necklaces stand for.  It means you went all the way here beside the Jansen pool.  I plan to be the first in my class to have one of those.”

“Have you ever done it before?”

“Of course.  I had a boyfriend last year.”  Jenna had only done it once, but she wasn’t going to be intimidated by an upperclassmen.  She knew what she wanted and she wasn’t going to be denied it.

A man turned to look at Jenna, and she gasped.  It was the cute guy from her economics class.  What was he doing here?  “You’re in my class, econ, isn’t it?  You can always make it with me.  I’m more than ready.”

Jenna just stood there.  Was he taunting her?
