No Umbrellas were harmed in the making of this book. Harm to Umbrellas was merely documented, photographed and celebrated!

It is something you are unlikely to see in any other part of the country besides a busy city. After a storm - the bodies of broken, half broken, mangled and inside out umbrellas litter and decorate every other block and garbage can throughout the city. I love to look at them and I am intrigued about their journeys and personalities.

Teachers may want to use the photos in this book as creative writing assignments for their students. The lesson might be called; HOW DID I END UP HERE? Did the umbrella just break free of the holder and fly away? Did it have feelings of being abandoned in that trashcan? Does it shout at people passing it by? Did it travel and see all the sights of Manhattan (or where ever) when it flew away before landing in a fence or puddle? What are all the things it has seen, conversations it has heard - from shelf to death? Or, just enjoy the pictures!
